Today I began my Car-mino! I picked up a nice little Franco-Spanish ride (a Peugeot with Spanish license plates) at the Porto airport and made my way to the village of Lavra to meet up with the walkers.
After a couple of weeks at walking pace, it was weird to be driving and trying to handle a strange car, on the wrong side of the road, along unfamiliar, narrow, cobblestone streets. I’m sure I’ll be back up to speed in no time, though I was quite enjoying the slower more deliberate pace.
Lavra is on the beautiful Portuguese coastline, along which the walkers had spent much of the day. They had planned to take the coastal route out of Porto (there are a number of options to choose from) as it was the least built up and most scenic.
We are staying in a little apartment in the heart of the town of Lavra. Once we were tidied up and rested we made our way to a beachfront restaurant for dinner, Portugeuse tapas for the walkers and salad and potatoes for me. We were right on the beach to watch the sunset.
A beautiful Pause… loving this shared journey!
Hugs to all! Nita
It looks amazing
Congratulations to you both. Thoroughly enjoyed your blog. Best wishes.
Fantastic, a whole new Camino with a new adventure, looking forward to hearing more of your journey. Nuala
